Five Career Pathways
Post-secondary education encompasses five career pathways:
A.A., A.S. DEGREES
An Associate of Arts (A.A.) or Associate of Science (A.S.) degree is a two-year college program that provides students with foundational academic knowledge and skills. These degrees are often designed for students who plan to transfer to a four-year college or university to complete a bachelor’s degree, while also offering valuable education for entry-level careers.
B.A., B.S. DEGREES
A Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) or Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree is a four-year college degree that allows students to study a specific field in greater depth. These degrees can lead directly to professional careers in areas such as business, education, healthcare, engineering, and technology, and may also prepare students for graduate or professional school.
MILITARY
The military offers opportunities for service, leadership development, technical training, and career advancement. Students who choose this pathway can gain valuable job skills, educational benefits, healthcare coverage, and experience while serving their country in one of the branches of the U.S. Armed Forces.
CAREER & TECHNICAL (CTE)
Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs provide students with hands-on training and industry-specific skills that prepare them for high-demand careers. These programs often include certifications, work-based learning experiences, and pathways in fields such as healthcare, information technology, manufacturing, automotive technology, and skilled trades. APPRENTICESHIPS
Apprenticeships combine paid on-the-job training with classroom instruction, allowing students to earn a wage while learning a skilled profession. This pathway provides real-world experience in industries such as construction, healthcare, manufacturing, and information technology, often leading directly to full-time employment and nationally recognized credentials.
