Funding for college

Many families worry about how to pay for education after high school. This concern is very understandable but should not keep you or your student from pursuing post-secondary education.

  • Cash for College Campaign
    The Florida College Access Network and partners across the state launched this campaign to promote FAFSA completion as a crucial step a students and their families make plans for education beyond high school. About 4 out of 5 students in Florida use some combination of federal, state, institution based aid to pay for college, and the way to access that aid is by completing the FAFSA.   • FAFSA
    The Free Application for Federal Student Aid or FAFSA. This form allows students to request federal grants, work-study, and loans, all in one application.   • Grants
    There are various grant programs available for students. These types of programs are not loans and do not have to be repaid.

    The Federal Pell Grant Program provides need-based grants to low-income undergraduate students to promote access to postsecondary institutions.   • Scholarships
    Many nonprofit and private organizations offer scholarships to help students pay for college or career school. This kind of aid is often based on academic merit, study, or other specific area of interest. There are many scholarship opportunities available locally and nationally.   • 529 Savings Plan
    A 529 plan is a tax-advantaged savings plan designed to encourage saving for future education costs. 529 plans, legally known as “qualified tuition plans,” are sponsored by states, state agencies, or educational institutions and are authorized by Section 529 of the Internal Revenue Code.
